San Antonio Real Estate

The market is hot, and so is San Antonio Real Estate.  The average cost of a home in San Antonio is well below the nation’s average, and there has never been a better time to invest in your future by purchasing a home.  The average price of a home in the nation's 32 largest metropolitan cities is above $250,000. At the end of the list is #32, San Antonio, which has an average home cost of $148,500.  This is the one area that San Antonio real estate purchasers enjoy being in last place.  With so much happening in San Antonio’s favor, it places the real estate market as a time to move.

SanAntonio's Economic Structure

The city is growing by leaps and bounds.  The metropolitan area’s real growth rate is projected to rise at a rate of 4.17 percent annually.  In addition to that the population is also projected to rise from 1.93 million in 2006 to 2.12 million by 2011.  This projected growth leads to a rate of 1.83 percent annually.  As the population grows so will employment, which is expected to increase from 879,400 to 963,100, or a 1.84 percent increase.  When purchasing or selling a home in San Antonio, you must consider the household income.  With all this growth, there leads to income increases as well.  The current household income in San Antonio is at $53.98 billion, and it is expected to grow to $66.75 billion, at a rate of 4.34 percent increase.

Opportunity Knocks!

The available jobs in San Antonio are everywhere.  Many companies are currently employing, and are showing no sign of slowing down.  About 350,650 wage and salary jobs are in the services sector, which represents about 39.88 percent of the area’s total employment.  The next largest employer remains with the Government, which holds 182,110 employees.  Over the next five years the service providers will see approximately 41,000 new jobs.

Commute and Transportation

As the city grows, so does traffic.  Currently San Antonio has an incredible highway system that allows traffic to keep moving.  The city has three major highways running North and South, which include I-35, I-10, and Highway 281.  Surrounding these three highways are two loops.  The first is Loop 410, which is dedicated as the inside Loop.  The other is Loop 1604, which surrounds the outside perimeter.  It has been said that you can get anywhere in the city in 15 minutes.  This is truly amazing considering the city’s population topping out at 1.93 million.

San Antonio Recreation

With all this great weather, there are many opportunities to have fun outside!  San Antonio, and the surrounding areas, offer lots of outdoor activities.  In San Antonio you can find the beautiful Riverwalk downtown.  Many San Antonio residents find it to be a small vacation within their own city.  It is a nice way to spend the day, strolling along the river.  San Antonio also offers art museums, the zoo, and many public parks to enjoy with the whole family.  In the surrounding areas we have Fiesta Texas, Sea World, and the coast at only two and ½ hours away.
